Gran Torino - film review

Jelikož jsem vás již drahnou chvíli neoblažil svým rukopisem, tak vám zde aspoň ukáži svou recenzi do angličtiny. Je o skvělém filmu Gran Torino a pokud k němu máte co říct, pište do komentářů.

In this review I'd like to present you the latest Clint Eastwood's film named after a car Ford Torino from seventies. The film is set in a small town Highland Park (Michigan, USA) where lives an old Korea War veteran Walt Kowalski with his dog Daisy. The area is dominated by Asian immigrants and gangs. Walt is an acrimonious widower, who hates them and spends days drinking beer and maintaining his big house. He finds his family stupid and they don't like him either. One day he catches someone who is trying to steal his precious car and finds out that it's his young neigbour. Thao did this because he wanted to be a member of a gang, but than he must work for Walt to expiate his action and becomes more self-confident. The gang doesn't like it, so they start to attack Thao, which Walt can't stand and prepares a revenge. Unfortunatelly, he dies, killed by the gang members.

I really liked this film, mainly due to the original plot and great camera work. The process, in which an old man makes his life happy once more, while he teaches the teenager how to be a real man, was absolutelly overwhelming. There are many jokes, but also serious dialogs about life, death and guilt. It's certainly no philosophical masterpiece, there's no hidden message or point. But that makes the film appealing to many people and I'm one of them. The final scene is amazing and makes it clear, that even if you have done lots of bad things in your life, you can do a good turn and die in peace. If you're still wondering if you should see this film, you can stop just now. The answer is yes.
